Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026.
Major Taylor Michigan Cycling Advocacy ("Major Taylor Michigan", "we", "us") is a Detroit nonprofit. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- When you contact us or fill in a form (for example, asking us to bring a program to your school): your name, email address, and anything else you choose to tell us.
- When you donate: your name, email address, gift amount and, where you give it, your billing address. Card and bank details are entered directly with our payment processors (see below). They never reach our servers.
- When you sign in to your giving account: your email address, so we can send you a one-time sign-in code, and any details you choose to save.
- When you browse the site: standard analytics about how the site is used, such as pages viewed, buttons clicked, the kind of device and browser, and roughly where in the world the visit came from.
How we use it
- To answer your questions and follow up on requests you send us.
- To process donations, send receipts, and manage recurring gifts.
- To keep records we are required to keep as a nonprofit.
- To understand which parts of the site are useful and improve it.
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not share your contact details with other organizations for their own marketing.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the site and process gifts. They handle your information only to provide their service to us:
- Payment processors: Zeffy, PayPal Giving Fund and Stripe, depending on how you give. Each has its own privacy policy covering the payment details you give them.
- Hosting and data storage: Vercel (website hosting) and Convex (database).
- Email delivery: Resend, which sends sign-in codes and donation receipts.
- Analytics: Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.
- Video: videos on the site are played from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode, and only load when you press play.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses cookies to keep you signed in to your giving account and to remember what is in your giving cart. Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits and see how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The site works without analytics cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep donation records for as long as we need them for tax and accounting purposes. We keep other messages and form submissions for as long as they are useful for the conversation they started, and delete them when they are not.
Children
Our programs serve children, but this website is meant for adults: parents, educators, volunteers and donors. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, let us know through our contact page and we will delete it.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop emailing you, through our contact page. Some donation records we have to keep by law.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Questions? Reach Major Taylor Michigan Cycling Advocacy through our contact page.
